A CERTIFIED SUCCESS: KENTWOOD COMPLETES FIRST PHASE OF MAJOR FSC PROJECT IN SALT LAKE CITY
The largest installation to date of Kentwood FSC certified hardwood flooring is nearing completion at a major urban redevelopment project in Salt Lake City, Utah, where 150,000 square feet of FSC certified wide plank engineered flooring are being installed in three new residential buildings which are part of the City Creek redevelopment project.
“The choice of FSC certified wood flooring from Kentwood certainly meets City Creek’s design goals for quality and sustainability," says Kentwood VP Sales & Marketing Brady Page.
City Creek is one of the most-watched urban redevelopment projects in the USA. The project involves a major re-design of three blocks in the downtown core to create an open, walkable, people-centric community in the heart of Salt Lake City.
Sustainability has been an objective throughout the project, and sustainable principles have been applied to the design, construction and future operation of the development. City Creek is a LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED ND) pilot project, one of sixty projects selected to participate in a focus group that is helping the U.S. Green Building Council finalize its new LEED ND certification process.
The residential buildings at City Creek Center are also being designed to qualify for LEED certification in the New Construction (LEED NC) category. For this reason, FSC certified hardwood floors were specified to qualify for LEED credits.
Kentwood worked with the interior design team at Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects (ZGF) to develop a range of FSC certified hardwood options that would complement the interior design schemes, and over 150,000 square feet of FSC certified hardwood flooring was custom manufactured to their specifications for the project.
Kentwood's FSC certified products are manufactured and distributed under certificates SCS-COC-00868 and SCS-COC-001760.
